Atlantic County partnered with DCO Energy to implement a comprehensive suite of energy conservation measures (ECMs) for Atlantic County, focusing on upgrading the County’s facilities to improve energy efficiency and reduce overall operational costs. One of the major improvements included a full LED lighting retrofit across the County’s buildings, significantly reducing energy consumption while enhancing lighting quality. In addition, DCO integrated advanced lighting controls to optimize energy use further, ensuring lights are only on when needed. The County also benefited from the replacement of aging boilers, chillers, and air handling units, ensuring better performance and efficiency. High-efficiency pump motors with variable frequency drives (VFDs) were installed, allowing for precise control over energy use, while premium efficiency transformers helped reduce electrical losses.
DCO also helped Atlantic County prioritize sustainable energy solutions by introducing water conservation strategies, and retro-commissioning measures to fine-tune building systems for optimal performance. The County’s commitment to renewable energy was strengthened with a Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to harness the benefits of solar energy. The Solar PPA was coupled with roofing upgrades to ensure the County has roof warranties to match the life of the solar panels. Finally, with the introduction of a new cooling tower and high-efficiency HVAC system replacements, these measures collectively contribute to a more energy-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly operation for Atlantic County.
